We found this report nestled in the BBC archives in a section charting the Gay Rights Movement. It came at a time when most lesbians concealed their sexuality. It wasn’t illegal – unlike gay men – but lesbians were still treated with ‘intolerance, suspicion, disgust’. It is an insight into what life was like for lesbian women in the Sixties. One of the interviews is with Steve – who is in a relationship with a woman but feels male.
